Clos de Vougeot - first tasting of the year

Clos de Vougeot - první degustace roku

Clos de Vougeot - first tasting of the year

The first tasting of the year, which took place on February 26th, was dedicated to a single vineyard, Clos de Vougeot. The tasting was built on a comparison of one family's signature across two terroirs. For this tasting, we presented it through Domaine Château de la Tour. The Clos de Vougeot wines were complemented by wines from Beaune from Domaine Pierre Labet.

Wines Tasted

Domaine Château de la Tour (Clos de Vougeot)

Clos de Vougeot

Clos de Vougeot is one of the largest Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. It covers approximately 50 hectares and is farmed by over 70 producers.

Domaine Château de la Tour

Domaine Château de la Tour is one of the most respected producers within Clos de Vougeot. The Labet family farms parcels in the central and western parts of the vineyard, and as the only winery, they have their headquarters directly in Clos de Vougeot, where they also process the grapes. The Cuvée Vieilles Vignes comes from vines over 100 years old.

Domaine Pierre Labet

François Labet and his son Edouard also develop the same signature at Domaine Pierre Labet in Beaune, which provides a natural contrast to the wines from Clos de Vougeot.

Conclusion

The same vineyard does not mean the same result. What matters is who makes the wine. And when it makes sense to open it.

That's what makes Burgundy unique.
