Les Champans is one of the larger and more highly-regarded Premier Crus in the central part of the Volnay slopes. The name is usually interpreted as a combination of the words "champ" and "pans" – a field on a slope. This parcel became part of the Delagrange family's property in 2009, making it a more recent addition to their portfolio than the historical Clos des Chênes.

Domaine Henri Delagrange owns 0.25 hectares of approximately forty-year-old vines here, planted on clay-limestone soil. Champans showcases a fuller and more structured side of Volnay: it has greater volume and power, while still maintaining the purity, balance, and finesse of tannins typical of the appellation.
