Les Ouzelois lies in the central part of the Marsannay appellation, adjacent to the renowned Les Longeroies site. Domaine Joseph Roty works with three plots here; in the largest of these, the vines are approximately 95 years old. The vines are densely planted and in some places in irregular rows, meaning the vineyard cannot be cultivated mechanically.

Les Ouzelois was actually the first Roty vineyard in Marsannay. Joseph Roty acquired it from his friend, Mr. Dupont-Tisserandot, even before the Marsannay appellation was established, when the local wine was sold as Bourgogne. Today, this historic plot represents one of the most striking examples of the Roty family's deep connection to Marsannay.
