La Maltroie Rouge comes from the Ez Crets parcel, which spans a mere 0.14 hectares. It is one of Bruno Colin's smallest holdings and also one of the few red Premier Cru wines offered by the winery, which primarily focuses on white wines.

This combination gives the bottle its significance. It showcases Pinot Noir from a site also known for white Chassagne-Montrachet, but specifically from a small, precisely defined parcel in the southern part of the commune. The wine has a firmer structure than Colin's Village reds and requires more time for its tannins to fully integrate.
